How I Know We’re Still Living in a Patriarchy

men

  • The Wage Gap
  • Still haven’t had a female-identified President or Vice President
  • We still make up less than half of the Congress, Senate, and the Supreme Court
  • NO PAID PARENTAL LEAVE
  • No meaningful research on PMS (PMDD, PME) or birth control for men
  • Inadequate spaces for women to express breast milk, mainly at hourly workplaces
  • We have The Worst Rates of Maternal Death in the Developed World
  • Only NINE female owners of professional sports team
  • Only 25 of the Top 500 CEO’s are female
  • No meaningful conversations to address childcare availability, quality, or cost
  • THE MENTAL LOAD
  • The “Beauty Industry” makes $445 billion a year
  • The Diet Industry makes $600 billion a year
  • No meaningful conversations to address femicide, women killed by men, a term the U.S. doesn’t use, while 6 women are killed an hour by someone they know
  • Rape kit back-ups/mishandling
  • Cheerleaders
  • Far too many “firsts” for women when it’s 2019
